I recently carried out another survey on Inverness College Students. This was carried out as a 'Typeform' survey online and was sent out to all students in Inverness College. I received 180 responses for this.
The majority of responses where from female students, this may be because the male students are less likely to speak about their mental health, or it could be due to females more likely to answer surveys (?)
The results gathered were quite interesting though. Over half (57%) of students said they suffered with a mental health problem - this is huge number. The majority suffer with depression (58%) and anxiety (69%) which is similar to the results found in the other survey.
Very few people said they had used the College guidance services - 42% have not used them, and 28% said they never would. I think this is something that needs to be addressed. I will be trying to do this through my designs, we need to get more people opening up about mental illness and getting the support they need while in college.
