DP - Believe in yourself

For the past couple of weeks, i have been developing my posters more. I gave up on the previous poster idea.

For the first poster in my series, I have chosen to focus on believing in yourself. So, I had a couple of ideas. I decided though that I wanted to combine illustration with crochet. I thought about how I could get across the idea of believing in yourself and decided that I would work with a crochet character with a thought bubble with an illustration of them as a 'real animal'.

I decide to crochet a horse and then draw a horse above him sort of like a thought bubble.

I drew a realistic looking horse first using coloured pencil. This would be included in a kind of thought bubble above the crochet character.

I then decided to play around with the image in Photoshop. I layered another drawing over the horse drawing giving the horse a patterned look. I then used watercolour brushes in Photoshop to give it a little more interest and depth.

As you can see I combined crochet and illustration for this poster. I decided to keep quite a soft pallet which I think works quite well.

My next two posters will need to follow this colour pallet and idea, they will need to combine crochet and illustration to create a uniformity between all 3 posters.

I don't think my original idea for poster #2 is going to work anymore, so I may need to rethink the idea for that poster. I will look at that over the following week.
